From 1988 to 1996 Ed wrote 20 computer related books for Que Books and Howard Sams Publishing (Macmillan Computer Publishing, formerly Prentice Hall Computer Publishing). He has also written columns and articles for DBF Magazine, Windows User Magazine, QBS Software News, and NetGuide Magazine, and was a contributing editor to Clipper Advisor Magazine.

Ed, who was represented professionally by Waterside Productions, Literary Agents of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA has had his books and magazine articles translated into Greek, Dutch, Hebrew, Italian, French, Polish, Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, and others. He has authored “Using Clipper”, published Oct. 88; fourth (Special) Edition published January 93,QUE books. Using Clipper is the best selling single volume on the Clipper language of all time, and has been translated into five languages.

Other titles include “Windows Stuff Microsoft Forgot” and “Using MS-DOS 6.2, Special Edition”, and the “dBASE 5.0 for Windows Developer’s Guide.” His book “Windows 95 Unleashed” published by SAMS, Aug 95 was a national bestseller. His last book before turning to life on the Internet was, “Personal Computer Security,” for IDG Books of Indianapolis, IN was published in March 1996.

As a freelance writer/photographer for various publications since the 1970′s, his credits include: Ebony Magazine, Northern Virginia People Magazine, The Virginia Voice, The Reston Times, Frederick, MD News-Post, and Encore Magazine. Managing Editor of the Virginia Voice, an entertainment and leisure time guide published 1980-81. In the 1980’s and 90’s Mr. Tiley was a contributing editor to Clipper Advisor, a subsciption newsletter on application development, and Windows User, a general interest monthly magazine published in the US and Europe.

Beginning in 1999 Ed became part of the Forgotten CoastLine, a tourist oriented newspaper distributed from Mexico Beach to St. Marks, Florida’s Forgotten Coast. Beginning in 1999 he built the first web site for the paper, and helped to establish The Forgotten Coast Dining and Accommodation Guide. In 2002 Ed became advertising director, and signed a contract to purchase the CoastLine Group, which he did in 2003. Until February 1, 2010 he owned and published one of the Forgotten Coast’s most popular cultural treasures.
